Coffee With CLASS!

I’ve enjoyed coffee for as long as I can remember. My grandparents spoiled us rotten when we were children. Memaw would wake up early and put the kettle on while she cooked bacon for breakfast. She’d have the Corelle coffee cups and saucers ready, with a few teaspoons of Folger’s crystals in the bottom, and waiting for hot water. The cups were so thin I used to imagine I could bite them like the Chocolate Factory scene in Willy Wonka!

Memaw would fix coffee for herself and Papaw and then pour two cups of milk for my sister and I, adding a teaspoon or two of coffee. We would help ourselves to several teaspoons of sugar from the milk glass sugar bowl. I always loved that last syrupy sip! She’d repeat this same routine later in the afternoon for a “coffee break” with a cookie or two. My sister Stephie loved the iced oatmeal cookies in the cellophane sleeves like Papaw. My favorite was butter ring cookies. I liked to put them on every finger and nibble them until they fell off!

I’m a coffee snob now. I like strong, rich coffee with lots of creamer!

The Coffee Lover’s Spring/Summer blog hop is under way and I’m featuring some digital designs by Taylormadecards4u – the Coffee with Class digital images and the Coffee Blend backgrounds. Owner Monica Taylor is a Super Sponsor for the hop and she is offering a 20% discount on purchases in her store through May 10. (Links for supplies used will be listed in the supplies list at the end of this post.)

I created a digital art journal layout using images from both kits as well as a digital background from Club Scrap’s May 2019 Damask hybrid kit for the coffee cup.

If you are interested in digital art/scrapbooking, check out the video of my process. I was strictly a paper scrapbooker until I discovered digital. I love the convenience of making one layout and being able to print as many copies as I like! Shutterfly and Persnickety Prints are my favorite online photo printing services. I’m thinking of printing my coffee layout on metal and hanging it in my kitchen near the coffee maker! It would also make a great gift for a coffee lover.

    1. Thank you! I’m sure I will carry on the name one day…unless my grands decide to call me something else 😁. My mom wanted to be called Granny and my oldest son (oldest grandson) started calling her Granny-mom. The name stuck and the rest is history!

  1. LOVE your story – thanks for sharing! Loved the part where you put a cookie on each finger and nibbled …
reminds me of my nieces & nephews who do the same with black olives. lol Love your layout (& I’m also
    guilty of the sentiment).
