I don’t like to fish, but I love to go fishin’! I would go with my grandmother sometimes when I was was a girl. It was kind of an honor if you got an invitation to go with her. We’d leave early in the morning, set up on the big bridge, stick our poles in the water and enjoy. We didn’t do much fishing, but she liked to talk and tell stories and I liked to listen. She also packed a mean picnic lunch. If I was really lucky she would fry some chicken, make a green pea salad and homemade buttermilk cake. We’d wash it all down with an ice cold can of Coca Cola…ahhhh! That was the LIFE!
She would have liked these vintage fishing themed cards!
The Gone Fishin’ elements coordinated well with the new Club Scrap Damask page kit papers and I used the Damask card kit instructions to create a fun set of fishing themed cards! I just printed the digital images on some heavy white card stock using my home computer and printer and trimmed the elements. (Supplies used in today’s project will be listed at the end of this post.)
Split flap card! I decorated the panels with Gone Fishin’ elements and added some Club Scrap Earth ink to distress the edges. I found a metal hinge in my stash and attached with a brad to keep the flap closed. I added some sparkle with Diamond Stickles.
I added one of the Gone Fishin’ tags inside the card instead of a sentiment.
Don’t you love this clever vertical hinge style card? I trimmed one of the Gone Fishin’ background digital papers to fit the vertical panel and punched the fly shop element with a hole punch from my stash. I added more Diamond Stickles for sparkle.
I strategically placed the inside elements behind the vertical panel for a fun surprise when opened!
Pop up element! I used leftover pieces of the Gone Fishin’ background papers and one of the tags to decorate the front of this last card. Surprise, surprise…more Stickles! 😂
I created my own version of the pop up feature using the Damask card kit instructions.
