Club Scrap Monthly Card Sketch Challenge

You Give me a Royal Headache

No, this is not going to be a post about the British royal family…though I have been keeping up with the gossip online. “Megexit” is oddly fascinating, but who has time for that? I have my own life to worry about and crafting deadlines to meet! Sheesh, all of that pish posh gives me a royal headache!

I saw the new challenge on the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers blog and made a quick card using the monthly card sketch from Club Scrap and some the scraps on my craft table!

I had some Rinea foil panels left over from the 10,000 Thank Yous video hop and I wanted to try die cutting the foil using my Silhouette Cameo. I needed a sentiment to reflect the theme of the “headache” challenge and the crown image from the Club Scrap Confetti collection set the sentiment in stone! I downloaded the digital kit and resized the crown to fit the dimensions of my card and cut it with the Silhouette. Then, I created the sentiment using the Midnight font featured in the collection and the Moon Flower font for a little word swag! I cut the words using the Midnight font on sapphire Rinea foil and used sketch pens with the Silhouette Cameo to print the words featuring the Moon Flower font.

This was the first time that I used the sketch pens, but this video was super easy to follow. I’m going to try this again – what a great way to add a sentiment to a card design!

This is probably an overused phrase…the Rinea foil cut like butter! I used the vellum setting for cutting and the machine cut perfectly the first time. I set the pens to make two passes, but it really wasn’t necessary. I love the final effect!

  1. Now that is a great source of inspiration for a card! And don’t you think the weight of the Royal Crown would cause an immediate headache regardless of the situation? 😀 Thanks for joining the fun at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!

  2. I bet the Queen would love to send that card to Harry right now! It’s absolutely brilliant and I’m totally in awe of the clever stuff you can do digitally to get your die cuts so perfect for it. Thanks for sharing at SOSS

  3. Super fun card, what a funny saying. It can be interesting to watch the royal family but like First World problems, they have their own Royal World problems. Your card is rich and pretty!
